Santa Visits the Club for Christmas!
This Christmas at the Club House in 2008 was a great success. Not only did our members have a great day out with some fantastic tennis, food and drink, but Santa even came to visit the children. A special thanks must go to Alex Hope who donned the red suit and gave his best Ho Ho Ho on the day... |

We Need Your Support
As I am sure some of you are aware, the LTA has launched British Tennis Membership and is pushing very hard for everybody to register for free membership whether or not they are members of an affiliated club which of course Beechwood is. So far 29 members of Beechwood have registered online to become members and we are about average in Warwickshire but are way behind a few other clubs and it would be really good to see Beechwood nearer the top and I would ask you all to support this by joining online which only takes a couple of minutes.

A New Coach for New Era
Beechwood have appointed Richard Allen as their new full-time tennis coach. Richard is 26 and from Solihull. He is a graduate of Oxford Brookes University where he achieved a BA Hons in Business & Management. From there he worked at Blossomfield TC for coach mentor Claire Williamson between 2002 & 2004 before moving on to run the Sales, Marketing & Sponsorship for Dinamica Marketforce on behalf of Babolat within the UK. In 2006, Richard moved back into coaching alongside Gavin Henderson at the Warwick Boat Club.

Beechwood Win National Club League
Last week Beechwood beat Penns Lane Tennis Club to win the National Club League. They now go on to compete in the regional play offs to be played sometime in August.
In the Coventry & District League Beechwood Mens 1st Team last week saw off there closest rivals Warwick Boat Club 1st Team 3-1 to stretch their lead at the top of the premier League. Some exceptional play from first pair Ian Hughes and club coach Rich Allen who were in top form to pull off the recent victories. Second pair Martin Owen and Matt Jordan also had to be in top form to win the other all important rubber.

Coventry Telegraph profile the new Sky Blue courts
Beechwood Lawn Tennis Club had a visit from an old Coventry City friend to mark the completion of the brand new Sky Blue courts. Joe Elliott, president of the tennis club 36 years ago and former chairman of Coventry City, came back to meet up with presidents past and present, to test out the new facilities. The club, in Beechwood Avenue, Earlsdon, has recently undergone a substantial amount of work, and is now sporting two brand new Sky Blue floodlit courts.
